The 47th Annual Avalanche Rescue Seminar

Saturday & Sunday, January 30 - 31, 2027

 

A two day Avalanche Rescue Seminar designed specifically for members of Search and Rescue groups will be held on January 6-7, 2018. The Colorado Avalanche Information Center, Colorado Search and Rescue Board and the Summit County Rescue Group sponsor this seminar. The basic level will feature instructors from the Colorado Avalanche Information Center and SCRG. The advanced level will feature local guest speakers, CAIC forecasters, and others.

A two-day Avalanche Rescue Seminar designed specifically for members of search and rescue organizations. The Seminar will feature both basic and advanced tracks intended to welcome all backgrounds of search and rescue training or experience. 

Location: Summit County, CO
Saturday: Colorado Mountain College, 107 Denison Placer Rd, Breckenridge
Sunday: Outside all day at Fremont Pass 

Gear required

  • Backcountry Travel - bring one of the below
    • AT or Telemark skis with skins
    • Split board with skins
    • Snowshoes
  • Avy Kit
    • Beacon with fresh batteries
    • Shovel
    • Probe
  • Clothes
    • Dress appropriately for the cold, high-altitude environment
    • Goggles or sunglasses
    • Sunscreen

NOTE: Unfortunately, we do not have extra gear that we can loan and aren't aware of locations in Summit County that do rent gear.
