I am wondering if there was heavy cloud cover, no moon or bad weather, as in my experience there is almost always some ambient light to navigate by.  I personally love startinga  hike at 0400 and not using a light, unless of course I'm on terrain that requires it.]]></content:encoded></item><item><title>
