On November 14th, 11 members of the Summit County Rescue Group
worked as volunteers for the second annual Colorado Avalanche
Information Center (CAIC) benefit bash at the Riverwalk Center in
Breckenridge. The event, put on by Summit County locals Aaron
Carlson and Joe Vandal, included live music by Rocket Rooster, a
silent auction, door prizes, beer and food.
Carlson and Vandal began the event last year, after a
long-standing Boulder fundraiser for the CAIC was canceled. The
CAIC depends heavily on grass roots funding to maintain its
season-long schedule of avalanche forecast online bulletins and
hotlines.
