How To Join Thank you for your interest in the Summit County Rescue Group! SCRG is comprised of almost 50 volunteers who, under the direction of the Summit County Sheriff's Department, donate their time to achieve one common goal: saving lives. SCRG accepts members from all races, gender and backgrounds. No special skills are necessary to join.
If you think you might be interested in joining the group, your first step is to visit us for a few of our weekly Wednesday night training meetings that occur at 6:00pm. We meet at the SCRG barn in the County Commons area (take Highway 9 to Peak One Blvd. to County Shops Road), and anyone is welcome to drop by. For details on meeting times and topics, e-mail Anna DeBattiste at info@scrg.org.

Search and Rescue is not for everyone-it can be a difficult job for volunteers because the rewards are minimal. Rescuers do not always get a "thank you" for a job well done. Sometimes we spend long hours out in the woods being cold, wet, hungry and tired, looking for a "lost" hiker only to find that s/he is home sleeping and hasn't checked in with anyone. We encourage you to spend some time attending meetings and learning about the group to determine whether membership is truly something you're interested in.
